Olympic medal manufacturers

Professional medals are typically crafted from Zinc Alloy, Brass, or Copper due to their superior durability and ability to capture fine 3D details. For 'Olympic' grade quality, ensure the electroplating process uses real 18K or 24K gold, 925 silver, and high-polished bronze. The plating thickness should be at least 0.03 to 0.05 microns to prevent oxidation and maintain a long-lasting luster. Always request a salt spray test report to verify corrosion resistance.

To achieve the intricate detailing seen on Olympic medals, specify the use of CNC-engraved steel molds rather than cast molds. This ensures high-definition 3D relief and sharp edges. For coloring, hard enamel (Cloisonné) or imitation hard enamel is preferred over soft enamel because it provides a flush, smooth surface that is scratch-resistant and offers a premium, jewelry-like finish.

Medals must comply with international safety standards, especially if distributed to youth athletes. Ensure all metal components are Lead-Free and Nickel-Free to meet CPSIA (US) or REACH (EU) regulations. For the ribbons, prioritize sublimation heat-transfer printing on high-density polyester or silk, and verify that the dyes used are AZO-free and meet OEKO-TEX Standard 100 for skin safety.

B2B buyers should look for suppliers offering variable data engraving, such as laser-etching specific athlete names or event categories on the edge or back of the medal. Additionally, consider custom-shaped cutouts and integrated LED or glow-in-the-dark elements for modern appeal. Ensure the supplier can provide custom presentation cases (velvet, wood, or leatherette) to enhance the perceived value of the award.

Before sharing high-resolution vector files (AI or CDR), require the supplier to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). When sourcing via Made-in-China.com, prioritize Audited Suppliers whose business licenses and production capabilities have been verified by third-party agencies like SGS or Intertek. This reduces the risk of your proprietary designs being sold to other buyers.

Implement a multi-stage inspection strategy. First, approve a pre-production sample (PPS). During mass production, hire a third-party inspector to perform a During Production Check (DUPRO) and a Final Random Inspection (FRI). Focus on weight consistency, plating uniformity, and ribbon attachment strength. Never release the final payment until the inspection report confirms the goods meet the AQL 2.5/4.0 standard.

Medals are heavy, making shipping costs a significant portion of the TCO. For large volumes, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is the most economical, but you must factor in a 30-45 day lead time. Ensure the supplier provides an accurate HS Code (typically 7117.19 or 8306.29) to avoid customs delays. For urgent events, use Air Freight, but negotiate DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms to simplify the import process and avoid hidden local port charges.

Use secure payment methods such as Escrow services or Trade Assurance provided by Made-in-China.com. This ensures your funds are only released to the supplier once you have confirmed receipt of the goods or passed inspection. Avoid direct wire transfers to private bank accounts; always ensure the beneficiary name matches the company name on the audited business license.
