Plastic crab farming box manufacturers

The most critical material is 100% Virgin High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE). This material ensures the boxes are UV-resistant, anti-aging, and non-toxic, which is vital for the health of the crabs. Avoid recycled plastics as they may leach harmful chemicals and have a shorter lifespan (less than 2 years) compared to virgin HDPE which can last over 10 years.

A professional design must include an independent water inlet and outlet system for each box to prevent cross-contamination. Look for boxes with sloped bottoms to facilitate the discharge of waste and uneaten food. Additionally, the ventilation holes must be sized correctly to ensure optimal oxygen exchange while preventing the crabs from escaping.

Since the crabs are intended for human consumption, the boxes must meet Food Grade Certification (FDA or EU Food Contact regulations). Furthermore, ensure the supplier complies with ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 14001 for environmental management to guarantee consistent production standards and sustainability.

The boxes should feature a self-locking stacking mechanism to ensure stability when piled 10-15 layers high. High-quality suppliers provide reinforced ribbing on the side walls to prevent deformation under the weight of water and other boxes. Check the load-bearing capacity, which should typically exceed 30kg per unit for vertical pressure.

Request a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) by a third-party agency like SGS or Intertek. Specifically, ask for a drop test and a stress-crack resistance test. On Made-in-China.com, prioritize Audited Suppliers who have had their manufacturing facilities verified by independent inspectors.

Plastic crab boxes are 'light cargo' (high volume, low weight). To optimize costs, use Sea Freight (FCL - Full Container Load) rather than LCL to avoid high volume-based handling fees. Ask the supplier if the boxes can be nested or disassembled during transit to reduce the total CBM (Cubic Meter) by up to 40-60%.

Standard colors (usually blue or white) often have lower MOQs (e.g., 50-100 units). If you require OEM branding or custom drainage hole sizes, expect an MOQ of 500+ units. Negotiate for a sample credit, where the cost of the initial sample is deducted from your first bulk order.

Always use Secured Payment services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com to ensure your funds are only released after you confirm receipt of the goods. Avoid direct wire transfers to private bank accounts. Ensure the Incoterms (e.g., FOB or CIF) are clearly defined in the Proforma Invoice to avoid disputes over hidden shipping or insurance costs.
