Refrigerant r12 manufacturers

Due to the Montreal Protocol, R12 is a controlled substance with high Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP). In most countries, the production and import of virgin R12 are strictly prohibited or heavily restricted. Buyers must ensure they possess the necessary import licenses and quotas. It is mandatory to verify that the supplier provides a Certificate of Analysis (COA) and adheres to ISO 9001 quality standards. For international trade, the product must be labeled with the correct UN Number (UN1028) and classified as Class 2.2 Non-flammable Gas.

High-quality R12 should have a purity level of at least 99.9%. Impurities like moisture or non-condensable gases can cause compressor failure. You should request a gas chromatography test report from the supplier. Key indicators include moisture content (≤10ppm), acidity (≤1ppm), and high boiling residue (≤0.01%). Always prioritize suppliers on Made-in-China.com who offer third-party inspections (such as SGS or BV) before shipment.

R12 is typically stored in refillable steel cylinders (e.g., 13.6kg/30lb or 22.7kg/50lb) or ISO tanks for bulk orders. Cylinders must meet DOT-39 or EN 13322 standards to ensure pressure safety. Storage areas must be cool, dry, and well-ventilated, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, as internal pressure increases significantly with temperature, posing a rupture risk.

While R12 was historically used in automotive air conditioning and domestic refrigeration, it is now primarily used for servicing legacy equipment or in specific industrial niche applications where retrofitting is not feasible. For new projects, buyers are encouraged to look for drop-in replacements like R134a or low-GWP alternatives like R1234yf, which are more environmentally friendly and easier to clear through customs.

R12 is classified as Dangerous Goods (DG). Shipping requires specialized DG packaging, a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), and a Dangerous Goods Declaration. You must use freight forwarders experienced in Class 2 hazardous materials. Be aware that many commercial airlines refuse gas cylinders, so sea freight is the standard mode of transport. Ensure the supplier provides a Container Load Plan to prevent cylinder movement during transit.

To ensure transaction security, use Escrow services or Letter of Credit (L/C) for large volumes. On Made-in-China.com, look for Audited Suppliers who have undergone on-site factory checks. Never pay the full amount upfront; a standard practice is a 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L) after quality verification.

Customs authorities worldwide are vigilant against the illegal trade of CFCs. If a shipment lacks the proper Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) permits or regional equivalents, the goods may be seized and destroyed, and the buyer could face heavy fines or criminal charges. Always confirm the HS Code (typically 2903.41) and local environmental regulations before finalizing the purchase.

When negotiating, focus on long-term supply stability rather than just the lowest price. Ask for volume-based discounts (typically 5-10% for full container loads). Demand transparency in the supply chain to ensure the gas is reclaimed or legally produced under specific exemptions. Requesting a video factory audit can also help verify the supplier's production capacity and safety protocols.
