Sailing jacket manufacturers

When sourcing sailing jackets, prioritize waterproof ratings of at least 15,000mm to 30,000mm for offshore conditions. Ensure the fabric features a 3-layer (3L) construction with a breathable membrane (e.g., PTFE or PU) providing a breathability rating of 10,000g/m²/24h or higher. Key structural details should include fully taped seams, YKK AquaGuard® zippers, and Cordura® reinforcements on high-wear areas like elbows and hems.

For the European market, ensure products meet CE marking requirements and EN ISO 12402 if the jacket includes integrated buoyancy. For general protective clothing, ISO 13688:2013 is the baseline. Additionally, verify that high-visibility elements comply with EN ISO 20471 standards, and check for OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 to ensure no harmful chemicals are used in the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) coatings.

Request a Hydrostatic Head Test report and a Spray Rating (AATCC 22) result from a third-party lab like SGS or Intertek. It is also critical to ask for a seam strength test and a saltwater corrosion resistance report for all metallic or plastic hardware. For bulk orders, always request a pre-production sample (PPS) to conduct a 'shower test' or field test to verify the integrity of the neck seals and wrist gaskets.

For Offshore/Ocean sailing, the jacket must have a high thermal collar, a fluorescent hood, and solas reflective tape. For Inshore/Dinghy racing, prioritize lightweight 2.5L fabrics and streamlined fits to reduce windage. All professional jackets should include adjustable double cuffs (latex or neoprene inner) to prevent water ingress when arms are raised.

The primary risk is delamination of the waterproof membrane due to poor adhesive quality, which may not be visible until after several uses. Another risk is non-compliance with environmental regulations regarding PFCs (Perfluorinated chemicals) in DWR coatings. To mitigate this, use Made-in-China.com's Secured Trading services and insist on third-party pre-shipment inspections (PSI) to verify fabric composition and waterproof integrity.

Technical sailing gear has high production complexity, so MOQs typically range from 300 to 500 pieces per color. You can negotiate lower MOQs by using 'stock fabrics' available at the factory. For pricing, aim for a 10-15% discount on volume tiers exceeding 1,000 units. Always clarify if the quoted price includes FOB (Free On Board) terms to avoid unexpected local handling charges at the port of origin.

For seasonal launches, Air Freight is recommended for initial small batches to capture the market early, while the bulk should be shipped via Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) to minimize costs. Ensure the supplier uses moisture-absorbent silica gel packs in every polybag and double-walled cartons to prevent mildew and physical damage during long-distance maritime transit.

Always verify the supplier's Business License and Export Qualification on the platform. Utilize Escrow-based payment systems provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released upon confirmation of receipt and quality. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts; always use official corporate bank accounts verified by the platform's audit system.
