Silk duvet manufacturers

High-quality silk duvets should use 100% Mulberry long-strand silk, which is hand-pulled to create a stable, breathable layer that doesn't clump. You should check for a 'preview zipper' (usually 20-30cm) that allows you to inspect the filling. Long-strand silk is pearly white, has high elasticity, and resists tearing, whereas short-strand silk (tussah or silk waste) appears duller, feels brittle, and often requires chemical bleaching and heavy quilting to stay in place.

Buyers must specify the GSM (Grams per Square Meter) or total fill weight based on seasonality (e.g., 150-200 GSM for summer, 400+ GSM for winter). Additionally, the shell fabric (ticking) is crucial; a 300+ thread count cotton sateen or silk habotai is recommended to prevent the silk from shifting while maintaining breathability. Ensure the product meets OEKO-TEX Standard 100 to certify it is free from harmful substances, which is a baseline requirement for high-end hospitality and retail markets.

Silk is naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to dust mites and mold, making it ideal for luxury hotels. Its thermoregulating properties allow it to wick away moisture and adjust to the sleeper's body temperature, providing a 'dry' warmth. For B2B buyers, emphasizing the longevity (up to 15-20 years with proper care) and the luxury perception of silk can justify the higher initial investment compared to down or synthetic alternatives.

Request a Burn Test report or a video of the test; genuine silk smells like burnt hair and leaves a crushable black ash, while synthetics smell like plastic and form a hard bead. For large orders, mandate a third-party inspection (such as SGS or Intertek) to perform a chemical solubility test (silk dissolves in bleach, polyester does not) before the final payment is released.

Silk is sensitive to moisture and compression. Ensure the supplier uses vacuum-sealed inner packaging to reduce volume and protect against humidity, but advise that products should not remain vacuum-sealed for more than 3 months to avoid damaging the fiber's loft. Use FOB (Free On Board) terms to maintain control over the logistics provider, ensuring the containers are kept in cool, dry sections of the vessel.

When sourcing on Made-in-China.com, look for 'Audited Suppliers' with textile certifications. Negotiate a tiered pricing structure where the price drops by 10-15% as you move from 100 units to 500 units. If you require custom branding (private labeling), expect a slightly higher MOQ. Always use Secured Trading services provided by the platform to ensure your funds are protected until the goods pass quality inspection.
