Sodium vapor light manufacturers

High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) lights offer a broader color spectrum (golden-white) and are more compact, making them ideal for industrial high-bay lighting and streetlights. Low-Pressure Sodium (LPS) lights have the highest luminous efficacy (up to 200 lm/W) but produce a monochromatic yellow light, which is best suited for security lighting or fog-prone areas where color rendering is not critical.

For the US market, ensure products are UL or ETL listed and comply with FCC Part 15 for electromagnetic interference. For the EU, CE marking and RoHS compliance are mandatory to ensure the restriction of hazardous substances like mercury. Additionally, check for IEC 60662 standards, which specify the performance and safety requirements for high-pressure sodium vapor lamps.

The average lifespan ranges from 24,000 to 30,000 hours. Performance is heavily dependent on the ballast compatibility; using an mismatched ballast can lead to 'cycling' (turning on and off repeatedly) and premature failure. Buyers should prioritize lamps with reinforced arc tubes and ensure the operating position (universal, horizontal, or vertical) matches the fixture design.

Sodium vapor lights have excellent lumen maintenance, often retaining 90% of their initial light output over their lifespan. While LEDs are more energy-efficient, HPS remains a cost-effective solution for large-scale agricultural (grow lights) and municipal projects due to lower initial procurement costs and high penetration in foggy or dusty environments.

These lamps contain small amounts of mercury and pressurized gases, classifying them as hazardous materials (HazMat) in some jurisdictions. They are also highly fragile. You must ensure the supplier uses double-walled corrugated packaging with custom foam inserts and clearly labels the cargo with 'Fragile' and 'Handle with Care' icons to prevent breakage during sea or air transit.

Look for 'Audited Suppliers' who have undergone on-site inspections by third-party agencies like SGS or Bureau Veritas. Review their Audit Reports specifically for their production capacity and quality control processes. Requesting a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) is a critical strategy to ensure the batch meets your technical specifications before final payment.

Focus on the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) rather than just the unit price. Negotiate for extended warranties (3-5 years) and the inclusion of spare components (ballasts and ignitors) at a discounted rate. For large volumes, aim for a 15-20% discount compared to sample pricing and request FOB (Free On Board) terms to maintain better control over your logistics costs.

Be aware of Anti-Dumping Duties (ADD) that some countries impose on lighting products from specific regions. Additionally, many countries are phasing out less efficient lighting under Energy Policy Acts. Verify that the specific wattage and efficiency rating of the lamps you are sourcing align with the current energy efficiency regulations of your destination country to avoid customs seizures or fines.
