Fox fur coat manufacturers

High-quality fox fur should have dense underwool and long, silky guard hairs. Check for skin suppleness; the leather side should be soft and pliable, not stiff or crackling. Ensure seam strength by inspecting the 'let-out' or 'skin-on-skin' construction, and verify that there is minimal shedding when the garment is lightly shaken.

Buyers must ensure compliance with the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) regulations to verify the species is not protected. For the EU market, products must adhere to REACH standards regarding chemical dyes. In the US, the Fur Products Labeling Act requires labels to state the animal's name, country of origin, and if the fur is pointed, dyed, or bleached.

Blue Fox is known for its thick underfur and is ideal for dyeing, making it popular for fashion-forward retail. Silver Fox features distinctive black and white guard hairs, offering a natural luxury look. Saga Furs or NAFA labels often indicate premium grading, which is essential for high-end boutique positioning.

Specify the fur grade (e.g., Saga Royal or Select), the tanning process (to ensure it is odor-free), and lining materials (such as 100% silk or high-grade acetate). Include requirements for heavy-duty closures (hooks and eyes) and reinforced armpits to prevent tearing in high-stress areas.

The biggest risk is Customs Seizure due to improper documentation or lack of Origin Certificates. Additionally, biological risks (pests or mold) can occur if the shipping container is not climate-controlled. Always use professional freight forwarders experienced in luxury apparel to navigate these hurdles.

Request a pre-production sample and a third-party inspection (like SGS or Intertek) before the final balance payment. Negotiate a Quality Guarantee Clause that covers 'hair loss' or 'leather hardening' within 6 months of receipt. For large orders, aim for a 30% deposit and 70% against the Bill of Lading (B/L).

Fur coats should be shipped in hanging garment containers to avoid crushing the pile. Ensure the use of silica gel desiccant packs to control humidity. Avoid plastic covers; instead, use breathable cotton garment bags to prevent the leather from drying out or developing odors during long-haul sea freight.

Be aware of Anti-Dumping Duties or specific Luxury Taxes that some countries apply to fur. Check the HS Code (typically 4303.10) for your specific region to calculate accurate Import Duties and VAT. Sourcing from suppliers with FTA (Free Trade Agreement) certificates can significantly reduce these costs.
