Wholesale best optical frame manufacturers

Buyers should prioritize materials based on durability and skin sensitivity. Acetate (Cellulose Acetate) is preferred for premium frames due to its deep gloss and hypoallergenic properties. For metal frames, Titanium or Beta-Titanium is the gold standard for being ultra-lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and flexible. For budget-friendly or sports lines, TR-90 (Thermoplastic Polyamide) offers excellent memory and impact resistance. Ensure all metal components use nickel-free plating to prevent allergic reactions.

Optical frames are classified as medical devices in many regions. For the US market, suppliers must be FDA Registered and products should meet ANSI Z80.3 standards. For the European Union, a CE Marking is mandatory, signifying compliance with ISO 12870:2016 (Ophthalmic optics - Spectacle frames). Additionally, ensure materials comply with REACH regulations regarding lead and cadmium content.

Focus on the hinge mechanism; high-quality frames typically use OBE or Comotec hinges (spring or 3/5/7-barrel types) for smooth movement. Perform a bridge deformation test to check if the frame returns to its original shape. Inspect the surface finish for bubbles or peeling, and verify that nose pads are adjustable and made of medical-grade silicone. For acetate frames, check for a wire core in the temples to ensure long-term adjustability.

A professional supplier should offer laser logo engraving or silk-screen printing on the inner temples. Look for those who provide CAD design services and can produce 3D-printed prototypes before mold opening. Ensure the supplier can handle custom color matching (Pantone) and offers a variety of lens options, including blue light blocking demo lenses or polarized clips.

Implement a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) using AQL 2.5/4.0 standards. Request the supplier to provide a Mass Production Sample (MPS) for approval before the full run. When sourcing via Made-in-China.com, utilize their Secured Trading Service to ensure payment is only released after the goods pass quality verification. Always document the Acceptable Defect Rate in the formal contract.

Optical frame pricing is highly volume-sensitive. For Ready-to-Ship (RTS) models, MOQs can be as low as 12-50 pieces, but custom colors usually require 300-500 pieces per model. Negotiate a tiered pricing structure where the unit price drops by 10-15% as you move from 500 to 2,000 units. Ask for 'free spare parts' (extra screws, nose pads, and hinges) as part of the deal instead of just a price discount.

Optical frames are susceptible to pressure and scratches. Insist on individual polybags and bubble wrap sleeves for each frame. Bulk orders should be packed in inner boxes (10-20 units each) before being placed in a double-walled corrugated master carton. For high-value titanium frames, Air Freight is recommended to reduce handling time and moisture exposure, while Sea Freight is more economical for large-scale acetate orders.

Verify if the supplier is an Audited Supplier on Made-in-China.com, which confirms their business license and production capabilities have been verified by third-party agencies like SGS or Intertek. Check their export history to your specific country to ensure they understand your local customs requirements and avoid potential seizures due to lack of medical device registration.
